Being a person of faith is more than wearing a Christian t-shirt and going to church several times a week. Faith involves practically expressing our confidence in God and His Word through some type of corresponding action. However, one of the most frequently overlooked corresponding actions involves something so simple that most people do not even realize the powerful role it plays. That action is: speaking the right words. When we say we have faith, we must consistently speak the Word of God, believing in our hearts that what God says is working for us.

Second Corinthians 4:13 says something so critical to understanding the faith-filled life: “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.” What a powerful revelation! Our belief is demonstrated by what we say, and if we say we believe God, we must speak what we believe.

This scripture coincides with Matthew 12:34, which says what we speak flows out of the abundance of our hearts. These two passages are discussing the Law of Confession, which deals with words. When we speak the Word of God, we are literally speaking our faith into existence. This is because words are spiritual containers that carry faith or fear, belief or unbelief. Christians are called to believe. And when we speak, our words should always reflect what is in our hearts.

Since words flow out of what is stored up in our hearts in abundance, and we must have the Word of God to get anything to work for us as Believers, then it is imperative we store the Word in our hearts. You can never get too much of God’s Word because it is His power. The Word is faith and the more faith you have, the more God has to work with.

Storing the Word in your heart will not only make you more effective in your personal life, but it will also make you an indispensable tool in the Kingdom of God. You see, God is not only concerned with you getting your own needs met, but He wants to use you to impact and influence others. We are to be representations of His power in the earth, and in order for us to do that, we must be full of His Word. That way, when we do say something, it will have life-changing, rearranging power behind it. We must be fully convinced of what we believe, and speak it boldly.

How do we become people of God who are fully persuaded by God’s Word? We do it by spending a lot of time in it. Reading, studying, and meditating on the Word every day is a must. The more we do this, the more real its truths will become to us. We will become so convinced that we will start talking about it every chance we get. As we speak the Word on a regular basis, things will start happening in our lives due to the creative power invested in the Scriptures. And that is when our faith will become evident to the world.

If you’re not saying anything, you’re not creating anything. So now is the time to start speaking what you believe! Don’t wait another moment. Find out what God has to say about the issues of life and embrace His words as your prescribed way of thinking and believing. Speak it in faith and see what happens!
