Gabby Douglas broke into the record books Thursday winning Gold with the U.S American Team Gymnastics and the Individual All-Around at the 2012 London Olympics. She also is the first African American woman to win all-around gymnastics gold.
“It is so meaningful to be the first African American to win the all-around gold medal; It just feels amazing” said Gabby Douglas.
As it was difficult enough for Gabby Douglas to stop smiling after winning, President Barack Obama made a surprising call to congratulate her and the rest of the gymnastics team for their hard work.
