Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta is horning the students and family of Santa Fe High School by giving away tickets to Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals following the shooting that claimed 10 lives and injured 10 others last Friday.

The team has announced that 300 tickets will be made available to Santa Fe HS seniors, which will be part memorial to those individuals who lost their lives and a temporary distraction from mourning. Fertitta discussed his plans with ABC 13 saying, “We’re going to bring all the seniors out on the court and recognize them. There’s gonna be a tribute video to the deceased, and we’re going to bring some of the first responders out, and just make it a special night,” Fertitta said. “We’re just trying to do our little bit that’s all. Just trying to make a special day where 30 years from now they think about going to that Western Conference Final game instead of what they had to go through their last few days of being a senior.”

Fertitta, a Galveston native, spoke of how he once played football in Santa Fe. The Rockets, as well as the Astros are rallying around the community as Chris Paul reiterated Fertitta’s words during the post game of the team’s 95-92 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 4.

“The city of Houston, we are going to need you. We are going to need you Game 5,” Paul said. “The city has been through a tough time with the things at Santa Fe, but hopefully basketball can be a way that people can come and ease their minds if only for a second. So Houston, we are coming home,”

Tickets will be available to be claimed by students until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23. Game 5 will take place on Thursday, with the series tied, 2-2.
