Construction of the I-45 and the future Grand Parkway interchange will cause major traffic problems this weekend.

Construction crews will be implementing an alternating lane closure on main lanes of I-45 from FM 2920 to Spring Crossing beginning at 8 pm on Friday, October 18 and lasting through 6 pm on Sunday, October 20.  Crews will start lane closures on the two outside northbound main lanes, closing the entrance ramp from FM 2920, and then move to the four center main lanes (two northbound, two southbound). Work will finish with the two outside southbound main lanes, closing the Spring Stuebner exit ramp.

Once completed, I-45 mainlanes from FM 2920 to Spring Crossing will be narrowed and shifted through March 2014. The primary purpose of the traffic switch is to allow for installation of bridge foundations for the Grand Parkway, as well as new concrete pavement on portions of I-45 southbound mainlanes. Motorists can stay informed on progress and construction updates on Segments F1, F2 and G by visiting the Project website at

Project completion for Segments F1, F2 and G is slated for late 2015and will total approximately 38 miles, running through Harris and Montgomery counties. These segments mark the first design build project of this magnitude for the greater Houston area. The overall SH 99 project is a partnership between the state, local governments, agencies and landowners originally conceptualized in the 1960s.
