HOUSTON — Houston ranks No. 1 in the nation for the most reported number of speed traps, according to a CNBC report.

The network used information from the website speedtrap.org to come up with the rankings. The website allows drivers to complain about so-called speed traps throughout cities across the country.

“I hate it. It’s just the system and I’ve got to deal with it,” Houstonian Kenneth Davis said.

Davis was at the Harris County Municipal Courthouse on Tuesday evening to deal with a ticket he was issued near Highway 59 and Bellaire. He said he believes it was a speed trap.

“Oh yeah it was a trap,” he said.

Houston had 373 complaints over speed traps, according to speedtrap.org.

The next U.S. city on the list was Austin, which had just under 200 complaints. Dallas also ranked in the top 10.

Listed among the Houston speed traps are the intersection near West Road and Beltway 8, and San Felipe and East Briar Hollow.

Shepherd, just north of Interstate-10, was also on the list. Drivers reported getting pulled over right when they headed down the bridge over White Oak Bayou.
