Do you believe you will have what you say? If so, what words are you allowing to come out of your mouth? For instance, how do you talk when you are in non–religious settings, around people who are not Christians? Do you evaluate your words, or do you just “shoot the breeze,” so you will not appear too “deep” to others?
I want you to take stock of your words, because whether you realize it or not, your life is the sum total of all the words you have spoken. Your words set the very tone for your life. In fact, so powerful are your words, that you can literally talk your way into victory or defeat.
Some of you may say, “It is not that serious. I have spoken a lot of things that have never come to pass.” But as I like to say, if you have been spared negative or tragic situations, it is because of the grace and mercy of God, and the power of intercession! Somewhere, God has somebody praying for you!
The reason your words carry so much weight is because you are created in the image and likeness of God Himself. Your words have creative power, just like God’s words. When you speak forth words you actually release a spiritual force like dynamite! That is how serious this thing is! If you have spoken negative words in the past, you can change the course of your life right now by speaking positive words.
Psalm 45:1 states “… my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer” (New International Version). This means when you speak words, you are writing them on your heart; and whatever is conceived in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth and manifest in your life.
Why am I hammering this point home so hard? Because the only way to change your life is to change the way you think and speak. Your mouth should be used as an instrument for life, not death. For blessing, not cursing.
To begin this process, take inventory of your words. How do you speak every day? Listen to yourself. If you constantly use perverse or negative words, repent. Make a course–correction by allowing faith in God’s Word to impact your speech. How do you develop faith in His Word? By confessing it, every single day. Also, make the decision to root out any sin that may be present in your life. Remember, you can say all the right things, but secret sin in your life will separate you from God. Be quick to forgive and quick to repent.
One of the reasons Jesus was so powerful when He walked the Earth, was because He only spoke faith–filled words. As a result, He experienced immediate manifestation when He spoke. This is why powerful, positive words are the blueprint for a changed life! Take heed to these practical truths and before long, you will be enjoying life and seeing good days!
