The Okmulgee High School senior suffers from cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound, but months ago, he made the decision that he wanted to walk across the stage to accept his diploma.

“One of the first things I did was to get down to his level, take a deep breath and not say anything for a couple minutes,” Officer Purdy said in an interview with WSOC.

The families of the two boys, now teenagers attending high school in Gilbert, Arizona, say they believe it was a miracle they ended up in the same town.

Four brothers are now able to grow up together after two neighbors made the decision to adopt the boys to avoid splitting them apart.
