A man was shot by an off-duty Houston police officer after witnesses said the man displayed a gun inside a restaurant.

The incident happened around 10:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peppers Restaurant located in the 3600 block of Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena.

According to customers in the restaurant, a man came in and displayed a weapon and threatened some of the patrons. One of the patrons called a nearby friend, who is also a Houston Police Department officer.

Upon confronting the man, the suspect allegedly displayed his weapon and the officer fired a shot. The alleged armed suspect was sent to the hospital by Life Flight. His condition nor identity was not released at the time of this report. Authorities continue an investigation into the incident.
