Have you ever asked someone how they were doing and they responded with the words, “I’m blessed”? Did you wonder afterward what the person meant? The words “blessed” and “blessing” have been misused for too long. In fact, many Christians have misunderstood what the blessing really is. Contrary to what you may have thought in the past, the blessing is not a house, car, or other material possessions. While these items are extensions of the blessing, they are not the blessing itself.

The blessing is an empowerment, or enablement, from God to carry out His will and purpose in the earth. It is God’s supernatural ability on your natural ability, giving you the ability to get results in life. When the blessing is on your life, you will be successful and everything you set your hands to do will prosper. For example, the blessing will enable you to get sweatless results on your job. It will give you supernatural wisdom and insight on how to solve problems that others may not know how to solve. The blessing will give you the power to excel at whatever you have been called to do.

God created the world and everything in it, including man, by speaking words. He first released the blessing in the Garden of Eden when He created Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:27, 28). These words He spoke, over the first man and woman, released His blessing upon them, enabling them to carry out what He had told them to do. They were anointed and appointed by God to have total dominion and duplicate the atmosphere of heaven on earth.

When Adam sinned and turned his authority over to Satan, he lost the blessing; however, Jesus came to restore what Adam had forfeited. Through Him, your authority over the enemy has been restored and, as a result, you can walk in the dominion that God has ordained for your life.

You may be wondering exactly how you can release the blessing over your life. The key is the Word of God. The blessing comes through the avenue of God’s Word—no Word, no blessing. Therefore, it is important that you begin speaking what the Word says about you every day. When you release words of faith over your life, you will begin to release the blessing and see your life transform. For example, if you need healing in your body, get a concordance and find scriptures on God’s healing power. Begin saying them out loud every day. Focus on your healing and how the blessing of God is working to destroy the physical challenge you are experiencing. As your heart becomes full of God’s Word, you will develop a consciousness about the reality of the blessing and your faith will soar. Before long you will be walking in the blessing and experiencing its results—favor, healing, deliverance, and total life prosperity.

Galatians 3:13, 14 says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Jesus’ death on the cross made it possible for you to receive the blessing. He came to restore what was lost through Adam’s sin.

When you know that Jesus Christ has empowered you to excel in life, it is impossible to see yourself outside of God’s plan for you to live abundantly and prosperously. You can’t remain stuck in your current situation when you know you are blessed. Make it your daily practice to begin making positive confessions about God’s blessing working in you, on you, and around you. Your life will never be the same!
