Empowered By the Blood of Jesus

Author: Creflo Dollar

Summary:

We are cleansed and empowered by the blood of Jesus. However, when we live a lifestyle that opposes the Word of God, we forfeit our blood-bought rights. Therefore, it is important that we judge our actions, and when we find ourselves opposing God’s Word, we should repent and forsake the sin. Doing so ensures our continuous mercy and fellowship with God.

  1. There is no darkness in God. He will not lower the bar for our standard of living just because society does (1 John 1:5-9).
    1. We cannot have fellowship with Him if we choose to remain in darkness (without knowledge of His Word).
      1. Being in fellowship with God means we are involved in a giving and receiving relationship with Him.
    2. God fellowships with us when we are walking in the light (being enlightened by His Word).

      1. As long as we walk in the light of God’s Word, we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
      2. However, when we stop walking in the light of God’s Word, the blood stops cleansing and empowering us (1 John 1:7).
      3. We must judge all sin in our lives, while refusing to feel condemned about it.
    3. We cannot try to lower God’s standard of living.
      1. We sometimes ignore the seemingly small sins we commit.
      2. However, we must confess our sin if we knowingly disobey His Word (1 John 1:8-9).
  2. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee” (Hosea 4:6).
    1. When we reject knowledge, we walk in darkness or deception.
    2. God wants us to be enlightened by His Word. Once we know and understand it, we can live a lifestyle of faith.
  3. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13).
    1. God’s mercy can be blocked in our lives, when we cover our sins.
      1. For example, Adam chose not to take responsibility for his own actions. Instead, he covered his sin and blamed Eve for his wrong doing.
