May 5, 2011, Americans came together for the 60th observance of a National Day of Prayer. National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance held on the first Thursday of May, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer.” The Praise 92.1 family visited Missouri City’s, and Houston’s, National Day of Prayer ceremonies. Today is the 60th annual National Day of Prayer, traditionally held on the first Thursday in May.The National Day Prayer was established by an act of Congress in 1952, requiring the US presidents to proclaim a National Day of Prayer each year.
