The singer, songwriter, actress and host of The Nightly Spirit recently joined Erica Campbell to talk about her new single, “Don’t Worry,” a song inspired by Psalm 37:25, which says, “I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.”
For McCoy, the message is simple. Even during life’s most difficult seasons, God has not abandoned His people.
The song is the latest release from her upcoming project, Me and My House. Instead of releasing the EP all at once, McCoy said she’s introducing the music one song at a time.
The title carries a double meaning. It references the familiar scripture, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” while also reflecting the project’s energetic house music sound. McCoy describes the collection as gospel-inspired soul music designed to lift people’s spirits while getting them on their feet.
She believes music has the power to do more than entertain. It can express emotions when people don’t have the words themselves and remind them of God’s promises during difficult times.

That message has become especially personal for McCoy. Over the past few years, she’s been open about her battle with cancer and other family challenges. Looking back, she said those experiences deepened her faith and changed how she approaches new obstacles.
“When you fight a battle like the battle I fought with cancer and then come on the other side,” she explained, “it gives you the strength to go through whatever is next.”
Rather than allowing life’s hardships to shake her faith, McCoy said overcoming those moments reminded her that God has been with her every step of the way.

She also shared encouragement for parents and families, reminding listeners that God’s promises extend to future generations. If you’re worried about your children or loved ones, she said, remember the scripture that inspired her song and trust that God remains faithful.

McCoy will also be sharing that message during Stellar Awards weekend in Charlotte, where she’ll perform “Don’t Worry” and participate in a health panel.
As she continues releasing new music, McCoy hopes every song leaves listeners with the same reminder: no matter what you’re facing, don’t let worry have the final word.
