Florida Pastor Gives Former Spirit Airlines Employees $500 Each
Some former Spirit Airlines employees are finding support in their church in Broward County. Henry Fernandez is the bishop at The Faith Center in Sunrise, and on Sunday, he gave 500-dollars to each parishioner who just lost their job at the airline. He says as a former flight attendant himself, he knows what it’s like to lose a job, so he wanted to be a good citizen to those who live in the community. His gesture has spread through social media, but Fernandez doesn’t seem to think it’s a big deal. He tells NBC 6 it’s normal at The Faith Center to be there for those in need.
Flowers For Detained Mothers
Border Church leaders are delivering flowers to mothers who are in detention centers and deportation sites this week. They are calling this campaign “Mother’s Day Across Borders.” The group, with congregants on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border calls this a symbol of hope for those held in places like the Otay [[ oh-tay ]] Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. Leaders of faith say if the flowers are not accepted, they will write letters to the moms in custody and display the flowers outside the centers.
