Man Arrested After Four-Year Old Shoots Himself

A man has been arrested in connection to the accidental self-shooting of a child in Houston.  Nicholas Zepeda-Quintanilla is charged with felony counts of injury to a child and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.  Police say the four-year old found a gun and accidentally shot himself in the head Monday afternoon.  Court documents indicate the weapon was placed on a shelf where the child could reach it, and the loaded gun did not have a trigger lock in place.  Zepeda-Quintanilla was convicted on felony charges of assaulting a security officer in 2021, which prevents him from legally owning a firearm.

Man killed after forklift overturns on him in NW Harris County

A man was killed in Harris County, Texas, after a forklift fell over on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 5400 block of Killough Street around 3:45 p.m. The man was found unresponsive next to the forklift and was pronounced dead by EMS. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the victim has not been identified.

Rapper Finesse2tymes Arrested On Multiple Charges In TX

Rapper Finesse2tymes is facing legal trouble again. According to reports from TMZ Hip Hop, the rapper was taken into custody by the Harris County, Texas Sheriff’s Office on Monday and booked on eight charges.  Additional details surrounding the Memphis native’s charges have not been released at this time, but the Harris County PIO told TMZ that Finesse2tymes is no longer being detained in the Harris County Jail facility as of Tuesday.  The rapper’s other legal challenges include a terroristic threats case and a negligence lawsuit.

Victim’s family in courtroom for legal drama in ding-dong ditch shooting hearing

Attorneys argued over the speed of the legal process in the case of Gonzalo Leon Jr., who is accused of fatally shooting 11-year-old Julian Guzman in east Houston. Guzman was allegedly shot while playing a ding-dong ditch prank. Leon Jr. is charged with murder, injury to a child, and aggravated assault, with prosecutors considering upgrading the case to capital murder. The defense requested a lower bond of $500,000 while offering a hard drive for data from the victim’s cell phone. The next court appearance for Leon Jr. is scheduled for January.

Apartment Fire Displaces Several Residents

A large apartment fire in Houston’s Fifth Ward northeast of downtown, has left several families displaced.  The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Tuesday  in the 52-hundred block of Market Street, near the I-10 East Freeway.  Fire Department spokesmen say at least three residents had to be rescued from apartments, and the fire caused heavy damage to several units.  No injuries are reported.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Staffing issues lead to ground stop at Hobby Airport

The government shutdown is causing delays at Houston airports, with a ground stop issued for flights to Hobby Airport due to staffing issues. Bush Airport is also at risk of a ground stop. Federal employees, including air traffic controllers and TSA agents, are working without pay, leading to concerns about longer security lines and delays. Aviation unions warn that the longer the shutdown lasts, the harder it will be to maintain normal operations nationwide. Flight operations at Bush and Hobby airports are currently stable, but the situation is being closely monitored.
