Congrats are in order for Keyondra Lockett who recently signed a deal with the ethnic Kenya Doll, becoming the first gospel artist to get her own doll. She joins the brand’s “Teen Scene” as one of Kenya’s singing friends who helps her get through challenges young girls face in junior high school.
“[I’m] humbled and honored to open a new door in the gospel industry that allows [me] to speak to children and millennials with a positive message through music and doll play,” she said in a press release.
It was Keyondra’s personal message of inspiration that Kenya Doll drew a liking to.
Earlier this year the singer embarked on a Diamonds and Pearls Tour featuring a concert, fashion show and empowering conversation for young women that was titled after a song off her latest EP, Bring Me To. The lyrics go, “You are a special girl, and you mean the world…you were made in His image.” Kenya dolls stand out for being a toy that reflects the skin tone and features of girls of color, and it too, promotes self-esteem.
Perfect fit, right?
The dolls become available in Rite Aid, CVS, Cracker Barrel, Burlington Coat Factory, Seventh Avenue, Toys R Us, HEB and Variety Wholesalers mid-September. Keyondra’s hits stores in 2017!
