When one door closes, another one opens.

This famous saying definitely relates to American track star KendraKeni” Harrison who recently failed to make the U.S. team at the Olympic Track Trials earlier this month. But then something amazing happened to her: Last week, she broke the world record for the 100-meters hurdles at the Müller Anniversary Games in London.

On Friday, the 23-year-old broke that record by a mere .01 seconds with a time of 12:20, USA Today reported. Harrison’s new time surpassed Yordanka Donkova’s previous mark of 12.21 set in August 1988, the newspaper noted.

Despite coming in 6th at the trials and missing her turn to compete in Rio, she stressed that she still wanted to give the Müller Anniversary Games her best effort.

“Not making the Olympic team I was really upset. And I wanted to come out here and do what I know what I could have done [in Rio],” she said. Harrison added, “You have one bad day but I knew I still had it in me. I was coming out here with just vengeance to show these girls what I have.”

And show the girls is exactly what she did.

Congrats Keni!
