President Barack Obama will announce his nominee for U.S. Supreme Court, a vacancy he vowed to fill after the death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia in February.

Obama will make his announcement at 11 a.m. ET, according to a White House statement

“I’ve made my decision: Today, I will announce the person I believe is eminently qualified to sit on the Supreme Court,” Obama wrote.

Last week, Sri Srinivasan, Merrick Garland, and Paul Watford — who, if confirmed, would be the nation’s third Black justice after Clarence Thomas and Thurgood Marshall — were named by a source close to the process as potential nominees.
