During an extraordinary 10 a.m. Friday morning press conference, Marilyn J. Mosby, Baltimore City State’s Attorney stated that, Freddie Gray’s death has been ruled as a HOMICIDE!  She also announced that six police officers were charged in the case, including the driver of the van who has been charged with second degree murder.

She also stated that, “His arrest was illegal and his treatment in custody amounted to murder and manslaughter.”  The officers have also been charged with the stiffest charge — second-degree “depraved heart” murder, as well as charges of involuntary manslaughter, assault and illegal arrest.

The announcement comes after all six of the officers were suspended after Freddie Gray suffered a fatal spinal injury while in police custody.

While making her announcement you could hear a few people in the crowd saying, “YES”.

Mosby also stated that the officers who accused Gray of illegally carrying a switchblade, that it was in fact a legal knife and that there was no justification for his arrest and that his arrest was illegal.

Warrants have been issued for the police officers being charged and as of 3p.m. Friday, five of the six police officers are now in Police Custody.

In the meantime, Baltimore is bracing for several more protests, including those slated to take place during the weekend, and probably with a different tone!

In her closing comments, she also stated that, “To the youth of our city, I will seek Justice on Your Behalf!”
