  4. Pinch ground nutmeg
  5. 3 large eggs
  6. 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  7. 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  8. 5 cups New Orleans French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (see note)
  9. 1/3 cup raisins
  10. 9 large egg whites, at room temperature
  11. ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
