But who is Christy Haizlip, other than a “Preachers of L.A.” “first lady” and wife of Jay Haizlip, a former professional skateboarder who came to the church following years of drug abuse and now runs the Sanctuary Church? Christy Haizlip hails from Rainbow City/Gadsden, Alabama, according to the Gadsden Times, and her parents are Owen and Carol Crain Smith. Christy Haizlip attended Gadsden and Southside high schools, and she met Jay Haizlip 27 years ago, after he’d found success as a pro skater and moved back home from Los Angeles for a time.
Christy Haizlip is also a mother, and as “Preachers of L.A.” viewers will find out, the couple has two sons and a daughter. With “Preachers of L.A.,” Christy is hoping she and Jay Haizlip will show people what it’s like to devote your life to Christ. “I want the world to see, (to) learn a little bit or have a little bit of a deeper understanding (of) what it is to answer the call of God in your life,” she told the Gadsden Times.
