(HOUSTON) — Dozens of Houston Police Department officers will soon be peddling across country to help raise funds and find a cure for leukemia and lymphoma.

The HPD Relay Team will ride their bicycles 2,900 miles from Houston to Tacoma, Wash., next week in a non-stop team trek to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The team leaves for Washington State from Discovery Green in downtown Houston next Tuesday at 8 a.m.

This is HPD’s 33rd annual ride. In the past 32 years, participants have raised over $5.5 million for LLS and have pedaled almost 72,000 miles.
