(SUGAR LAND, TX) — Most Texans still live in parched areas, and that means we all have to try harder to conserve.
Sugar Land residents are being asked to do their part by following a formalized, but voluntary watering plan.

Sugar Land spokesman Doug Adolph said they’ve been working at this for years, but now it’s in writing.
“We recently updated our drought contingency plan to include a new stage which formalized voluntary water restrictions,” he said.
Adolph said it’s mostly about lawn watering.
“What we’re asking people in Sugar Land to do is limit irrigation to no more than two days a week and adhere to our voluntary irrigation zone schedule,” he explained.
Other suggested actions include turning off irrigation systems during rainy periods, setting lawn mowers so grass is never any shorter that two to three inches and leaving grass clippings on the lawn.
