(HOUSTON) — The death of a popular Pearland teacher in February was not due to any kind of flu, according to a report just in from the Harris County medical examiner’s office.
Tracie Burroughs, 47, became sick at school with flu-like symptoms and died at home a short time later after seeking medical attention.

Officials with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences said she died of a bacterial infection complicated by several factors, including bleeding from her adrenal glands and the removal of her spleen years ago. That organ is important in the body’s fight against bacteria.
