(HOUSTON — A Houston woman is pushing for a new ordinance after the Montrose five-alarm fire broke out and destroyed an unfinished apartment complex.

Trisha Keel wants to see the city pass an ordinance that would call for a minimum space requirement between buildings, so that emergency responders can more easily get to where they need to go.

Originally, she had a problem with the distance between the Magnolia Cemetery and the new apartment complex.

Her focus changed when she realized how much worse the damage could have been if the building had been finished and occupied.
