HOUSTON – Reliant Stadium is getting a new name. It will be called NRG Stadium after Reliant Energy parent company NRG Energy.

NRG acquired Reliant’s retail operations in 2009 and is re-branding which means we will be bombarded with N-R-G!

As part of the deal, NRG will also get its name on the other buildings at the park.

Reliant spent $300 million for 32 years to acquire the naming rights. The Texans get 75 percent the revenue and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo receive 15 percent. Harris County built the stadium and gets 10 percent.
