(HOUSTON, TX)–A Southwest Houston neighborhood dream of gardens and green space is about to come true.

The Gabriela Mistral Center for Early Childhood will get an innovative new nature playground thanks to a grant to the City Of Houston from the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Robin Blewt with Keep Houston Beautiful, a partner with the city in securing the grant, says all of the four year olds at the school live in apartments with no access to play grounds.

“The creation for the plan for the garden was developed in collaboration with the community it really is a dream of the neighborhood”

The playground and garden will include fruit trees, a pond, a playhouse and even music space.
