A boy in Fort Bend County undergoes surgery after being shot in the leg in what may be a freak accident.
Police say 9-year-old Luke Knight was walking with his grandfather and brother on Nails Rd., just outside of Fulshear when he was struck by a bullet in the leg. He was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital where he is in good condition.
Family members say they did not hear a gunshot and have no idea where the bullet came from. Police suspect it came from a riverbed in the nearby woods where people often go to shoot guns.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, but say right now the shooting appears to be an accident.
