Visitors to this weekend’s PetFest will get to meet Cronkite, the News 92 FM Newshound. Martha Martinez reports that you might also run into Elizabeth Emery, Cronkite’s foster mom and a woman with an incredible story. Click below to listen:

She says Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue helped save her life, as well. Seven years ago, Emery was just coming out of treatment for breast cancer and struggling a bit.

But Emery says there’s nothing quite as fulfilling as working with rescue groups to find forever homes for discarded dogs and cats:
