A southeast Texas man has been sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison for scalding his girlfriend’s year-old-son in a bathtub.

Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough says that 24-year-old Daniel Ray Andrews of West Orange pleaded guilty to reckless injury to a child.

Kimbrough says the boy suffered burns over about two-thirds of his body in the February 26 incident. Kimbrough added there is evidence that Andrews intentionally caused the boy’s injuries.

According to the prosecutor, the mother was not at home at the time her son was hurt.
