According to the latest college sports reports, the University of Houston offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt has resigned and assistant coach Travis Bush will handle play-calling duties. Bush is also slated to now coach the quarterback position; the announcement of the shakeup on the U of H coaching staff came from head coach Tony Levine on Monday.

The U of H Cougars’ lost their season opener 30-13 Texas State. “We wish Mike the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the Houston program,” said Levine. “We are confident in Travis and his play-calling ability moving forward,” he added.

Ken McClintock will assume Bush’s role of coaching running backs. The Cougars will host Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.

Nesbitt who was was also in his first season with the Cougars, was the offensive coordinator at Stephen F. Austin in 2011.
