Both locations of the French Cuff Boutique were hit within hours in broady daylight on a busy weekend. In the late afternoon of July 28th, two women strolled into the first location in the 4000 block of Bellaire. Carrying big handbags, the pair took their time browsing the shelves. 22 minutes later, they walked out with thousands of dollars worth of clothing and jewelry. West University police officer Phil Clark believes this pair has experience at shoplifting, “They were holding the bags under their arms in a way that takes practice they would have merchandise that they would end up not stealing for example if they had a shirt of some kind of draped over their arm and they were able to hide the bags so they could conceal things without really in eyesight of the clerks.”

Owner Kaity Tate-Barkley is grateful that she has state-of-the-art surveillance cameras at both locations. But the loss has had an effect on her and her staff, “We’ve kind of lost our sense of comfort and safety in both of our stores and don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or charges. Call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Watch the video below to see if you recognize these women:
