A teenager who was found after she was swept away Tuesday evening in a neighborhood bayou has died. According to reports, crews searched for her in Vince Bayou along Southmore and Richey in Pasadena Tuesday evening while battling currents and waves.

Emergency officials pulled the girl out of the bayou just after 7:00 p.m. and began administering CPR immediately. She was then rushed to the Bayshore Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Rescue personnel worked quickly to save the teen girl. An eyewitness account indicates that the 14-year-old victim was floating in the water but then she got stuck in the tree. The eyewitness also saw the girl who was wearing a gray hoodie, floating upstream.

The teenager floated for one mile and about 15 minutes before an overgrown tree caught her body. It was then that her body was pulled out of the bayou. The teen had been walking by the water and then she fell.

The Pasadena police and fire coupled with the Coast Guard offered their assistance in the search for the teen. It was then that a gray hoodie was spotted in the water.

It’s unclear to investigators if the teen victim was with anyone else when she went into the water. It is also unclear if the teen intentionally jumped. Police continue to investigate the case.
