The Houston Zoo is celebrating World Oceans Day and you are invited to be apart of the fun! According to the Houston Zoo, the world’s oceans are a tremendous part of our earth: “It’s estimated that 50-80% of all life on earth is found under the ocean surface and that the oceans contain 99% of the living space on the planet. Yet, less than 10% of that space has been explored by humans.”

On Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Houston Zoo will celebrate World Oceans Day. On that day there will be host of activities to commemorate the day as well as educate zoo attendees about the world’s oceans.

Activities celebrating “World Oceans Day” include: the World Oceans Day “Activity Zone” featuring face painting and crafts, a special reading of celebrated author Dr. Seuss’s timeless children’s story One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and special seminars and events that share how our everyday actions impact the oceans and the world’s waters.

Visit the Houston Zoo’s website for more information about “World Oceans Day”.
