One Seabrook man is accused of abusing his adopted son and the boy’s mother is accused of watching the abuse and doing nothing to stop it. Court documents indicate that Seabrook police were called out to Seabrook Intermediate School for a welfare check on Jan 5 on the young male abuse victim. After the boy was examined by school officials and medical personnel, it was determined that the young child had injuries so severe that he had to be hospitalized.

According to police, the 11-year-old boy had several bandages on his waist, buttocks and thighs. He also had wounds that were bandaged but still seeped bodily fluids.

Additional reports indicate that the boy claims he was abused within his family’s home. He further told police that his father, Kerry Dean Parks had been beating him with a leather belt for months, sometimes several times a day. Then Parks would reportedly take vinegar, alcohol and sometimes even salt and place the liquids on the boy’s wounds. The chemicals that Parks poured on the boy’s wounds caused burns severe enough that the child had to be treated at Shriner’s Hospital.

A probable cause statement indicates that the boy’s mother Merilyn Parks, witnessed the beatings on several occasions but did not report it. The young boy is now 12 and he and his sister have been in foster care since January of this year. Kerry Dean Parks has been charged with two counts of serious bodily injury to a child and was arrested on Monday. Merilyn Louise Parks who has a warrant issued for her arrest, has been charged with injury to a child.
