According to The Police News,League City police officers were dispatched Sunday morning about 2 a.m. to the Bayridge Apartments. Upon arrival, they found that a two-year-old child had been shot in the arm. The child, in critical condition, was transported to UTMB in Galveston by Lifeflight.

Investigators say Roger Anthony Winston, 20, and another man at the apartment engaged in a disturbance. Winston fired two rounds from a shotgun at the other man, missed him and hit the child who was asleep on a couch at the time.

Winston fled the scene. He was apprehended by police a short time later.

League City Police charged Winston with one count of aggravated assault and bond was set at $100,000. No one else was injured during the incident.

The Police News got reports of this incident Sunday morning but was unable to contact anyone in the League City Police Department to confirm the report.

The press release issued by the League City Police Department Monday morning did not specify the sex of the child or the child’s condition.
