One of the most scenic, amazing and captivating places in Houston played host to an Earth Day celebration over the weekend. The Houston Zoo served up an inter-planetary party with a purpose for those that were young as well as those that were young at heart. The Earth Day activities featured a Coloring Mural, the Mother Earth Maze, the Orkin Family Fun Zone, a Scavenger Hunt and the Race To Recycle competition. There was also an Earth Day DJ that spun tunes while Earth Day pint-sized participants spun hula hoops.

Participants were invited to “get their green on” as they tested their knowledge of recycling, biodegradable items and other informative tasks and activities. The event was sponsored in part by by Orkin and Fiesta. The Asian elephant bath, Butterfly Pavilion and reflection pool were just some of the other attractions that helped to cap off a weekend of fun with animals and a fostering of appreciation for the environment.
