The Ex-Ceo of the company that has changed the way we think about computers over the past decade has died at the age of 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
I remember back in the 1980’s when we had apple II computers at my high school and it was in a class called business data processing, where I first became familiar with it’s ease of use. Back then you had commodore 64 computers, remember those?, that where cumbersome and hard to understand but apple made things simple.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s, however, apple lost it’s way after they fired Steve Jobs in 1985 paving the way for the Windows takeover. Even-through it all, I would still be an apple loyalist and would often debate friends on it’s superiority, who felt windows was better simply because it was the popular thing. I never followed the crowd, I like what I liked no matter what.
In the late 90’s, the apple board wised up as the company was about to go bankrupt, brought Steve back and soon thereafter things started to turnaround.
In 1999 they introduced the G4 computer, and for the music industry, that basically kicked off the digital audio workstation revolution because it’s speed at the time was unsurpassed. It was followed up by the G5 and then in 2001, the world as we know it changed, with the introduction of the iPod.
You know the rest from there, then came the iPhone, iPod touch and now the iPad. What is next? I am sure the company is well secure with products in the pipeline for years to come but, Steve’s genius mind will surely be missed. Apple computer is now the most valuable technology company in world due to the creative mind that was Steve Jobs. Due to his faultering health, Steve resigned as CEO, while still remaining on the board of directors, a little over a month ago and turned the company over to Tim Cook the current CEO.
Let’s indeed pray for his family and friends as well as most importantly, pray that someone along the way led him to Jesus, the author and finisher of the faith.
