As director of the City’s Office of Business Opportunity (OBO), Carlecia Wright has taken charge of the former Department of Affirmative Action and Contract Compliance.

Wright was appointed by Mayor Annise Parker three months ago, and it’s her job to ensure that area small, minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises have meaningful participation in the city’s procurement process.

A native Chicagoan, Wright made a name for herself with the successes she had with the City of New York’s Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise Program. There she served as executive director of Policy, Planning and Operations, as well as the executive director of Certification and Recruitment.
