When people don’t get enough sleep they eat about 300 calories more each day than when they’re well rested. Findings presented at an American Heart Association meeting showed sleep-deprived women eat more calories than their male counterparts. Additionally, they say lack of sleep leads to eating high fat food like ice cream and fast foods. A sleep researcher says an extra 300 calories daily will lead to rapid and robust weight gain. So, if you’re trying to lose weight, they suggest getting the right amount of sleep.
