House Speaker John Boehner [[ BAY-ner ]] has three words for federal workers who face pink slips from budget cuts — “So be it.”  Boehner claimed since President Obama took office, the federal government has added about 200-thousand positions.  He added, quote, “If some of those jobs are lost in this, so be it.  We’re broke.”  Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fired back, quote, “Maybe so be it for him, but not so be it for the people who are losing their jobs.”

Democrats dispute Boehner’s numbers and cite their own estimate that just 20-thousand jobs have been added to the federal payroll since January 2009.  The dueling comments came as the House began debate on a bill to cut 61-billion dollars from the current fiscal year’s budget.
