The Bernie Mac Foundation launches a new website and music series. The BMF Jazz and Soul Sessions Series fundraiser was created because of Mac’s love of Jazz and Soul music.

The foundation headed by his wife Rhonda and daughter Je’Niece has quite a unique way to feature artists for the event. They’ve taken Bernie’s IPOD and they’re selecting his favorite artists from there.

“This is a non-traditional and fun way to raise funds for Sarcoidosis, the disease that claimed my dad’s life” said Je’Niece McCullough Bernie’s daughter. Currently, Rachelle Ferrell, Maysa, and Tom Browne have been featured.

Bernie Mac was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1983 which left his lungs weakened. At first it was difficult to live with this poorly understood disease and not know how it would impact his and his family’s future.

With time, Mac learned to live his life one day at a time, never allowing the Sarcoidosis to interfere with his belief in himself or the pursuit of his dreams.

His stand-up motto says it all … “I ain’t scared of you…!
