“I haven’t received any offers for interviews and I’ve been doing this almost two years since I was laid off from my last job,” Eddie Rabb said.

Rabb said he goes to a Workforce Solutions office every day, getting online, looking for jobs and sending out his resume. But at the age of 59, Rabb says, it seems things are stacked against him.

“I’m seeing more and more younger people get the chance to do a job. I’ve seen myself passed over,” he said.

According to the U.S. Labor Department, of the 14.9 million Americans unemployed, more than 2.2 million are 55 or older. The unemployment rate for that group is now 7.3 percent, which is a record and double what it was at the beginning of the recession
