New York Giants rookie safety, Chad Jones, was seriously injured in a car accident early Friday morning.

Jones, who was drafted by the Giants in the third round in April, underwent surgery for a broken leg and ankle and is currently in critical condition at LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans.

New Orleans’ television station WWL-TV reported Jones suffered a fractured left leg and had arteries and nerves exposed, and that doctors were trying to restore blood flow into Jones’ foot.

The cause of the car crash is still unclear.
