Only three contestants remain on Fox’s hit vocal competition “American Idol.”  Wednesday night was another elimination episode, with Michael Lynche and Crystal Bowersox on the chopping block.  Unfortunately for Lynche, his performance of Michael Jackson’s “Will You Be There” on Tuesday night wasn’t good enough to keep him on the show.

Wednesday night wasn’t Michael Lynche’s first elimination from “American Idol.”  The 26-year-old was voted out several weeks ago, but the judges decided to use their one “save” for the season and keep him on the show.  Casey James, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox will return to the “Idol” stage next week with a spot in the season finale up for grabs.  “Idol” will then crown a season nine winner one week later, on May 26th.

Last night’s “Idol” episode also featured performances from a pair of familiar faces.  Season three winner Fantasia Barrino opened the show with a performance of her latest single “Bittersweet,” while season five finalist Chris Daughtry and his band performed their track “September.”  Legendary rockers Bon Jovi also took the stage Wednesday night, performing their hit “Superman Tonight.”  Tune in to Fox next Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern for an all-new episode of “American Idol.”
