Via KHOU.com:

Traffic along I-10 near downtown slowed to a standstill Monday morning after a fiery accident involving an 18-wheeler.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. near the Studemont exit.

Police said a truck was headed westbound when it lost control and crashed over the concrete median.

The cab of the truck burst into flames, but police said the driver was able to escape with only minor injuries.

Emergency crews were forced to shut down the westbound lanes entirely for about 30 minutes. As of 11:20 a.m., only one lane was getting by.

Officials blocked off all but two of the eastbound lanes at the crash site.

Traffic was backed up in both directions.

Police didn’t say how long it would take to clear the scene.
