American Idol” Takes On Billboard Number Ones

(Undated)  —  It was a night full of number ones on Fox’s “American Idol,” as the remaining eleven vocalists performed tracks that have reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  Twenty-four-year-old Crystal Bowersox displayed why she is considered by many to be the favorite to win with her rendition of Janis Joplin’s classic hit “Me and Bobby McGee.”

Twenty-three-year-old Lee Dewyze also had a good night with The Box Tops’ “The Letter,” while Michael Lynche received more positive reviews by singing “When a Man Loves a Woman.”  Unfortunately, Tuesday’s show wasn’t a positive experience for everyone.  The “Idol” judges questioned whether Paige Miles was still competing following her performance of Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds,” while Simon Cowell told Andrew Garcia that he “sucked the soul out of” Marvin Gaye’s “Heard it Through the Grapevine.”

Teen pop queen Miley Cyrus was also a part of Tuesday night’s broadcast.  The “Party In The U.S.A.” singer mentored the contestants as they prepared their Billboard hits.  Cyrus will return to the show tonight as she takes the stage for a performance.  Fellow pop stars Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas will also perform a duet.  Tune in tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern for an all-new “American Idol” on Fox.
