(Undated)  —  A live TV audience got reacquainted with classic hits of The Rolling Stones on Tuesday night’s “American Idol.”  During the two-hour episode on FOX, the show’s 12 finalists sang from the legendary band’s songbook.  One of the judges’ favorites was Elliston, Ohio-resident Crystal Bowersox, who sang “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

There were no sightings of Mick Jagger or Keith Richards, but one Brit — judge Simon Cowell — made his presence felt.  Cowell doled out his brand of “tough love” interspersed with approval as young hopefuls performed from the band’s catalog. Things did get tense when Cowell called contestant Michael Lynche’s “Miss You” a bit “desperate.”  This prompted “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest to descend from the stage and ask for some elaboration.

Tune into FOX tonight at 9:00 p.m. Eastern for results on “American Idol.” Pop star Ke$ha and Orianthi, the would-be concert guitarist for the late Michael Jackson, will appear as special guests.
