An Ohio man faces assault charges after he punched a grocery store manager and spit in his face over a mistake on the price of crab cakes.
Ralph Barr of Perkins Township repeatedly punched and head–butted Kroger store manager Monte Erwin, 44, in a dispute over the price of crab cakes. Barr also spit in Erwin’s face and broke his glasses.
Before the incident, Erwin had told Barr, 61, the store made a mistake on the price of the crab cakes and offered to sell the first pound at a discounted price, but the rest at the correct price.
Barr told police the manager hit him with the price gun, but witnesses said the manager did not fight back. The price gun was around his waist, Erwin said, and may have hit Barr while he was trying to protect his face.
