(HOUSTON) – Trees of Hope is working to make back to school season a much better time for homeless children in the city.

Life is tough for homeless kids around the city and back to school time can be even tougher. The kids feel isolated among the peers, not having the benefit of school supplies and clothing.

The Tree of Hope works with the Star of Hope and it works to provide shoes and supplies for children in need.

“All of us can remember how tough it really is on the first day of school,” said Scott Arthur of the Star of Hope.

“Imagine going back to school with all of that pressure, maybe not even knowing anybody because you’ve had to transfer to a different school, and now you are labeled as homeless.”

He says it’s helped to be in a city like Houston where so many are willing to lend a hand.

“The community has helped us so much,” Arthur said. “I can’t think of a city more generous than Houston, Texas.”

You can always go to the Star of Hope Mission’s website for information on how you can help.
