Mark Kelly wants everyone to learn lifesaving skills such as those that saved the life of his wife, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Kelly, a NASA astronaut, is urging all Americans to participate in this weekend’s “Save-a-Life Saturday.” He says the intern who saved Giffords’ life had the first-aid training needed to respond to Giffords’ injuries from a January shooting that left six dead in Tucson, Arizona. “The fact that he was there and was able to treat her in those first critical seconds from the time she was injured, it’s what saved her life,” Kelly said. More than 100 communities around the country are expected to participate in the event, dubbed “Gabrielle Giffords Honorary Save-a-Life Saturday.”
